An announcement that gives you bananas?

30 years ago (ouch, that stings), Rare created one of the Super Nintendo masterpieces: Donkey Kong Country. The famous gorilla, after having been the hero of a 3D game, a racing driver but also a conga player, returned to his favorite field on Wii in 2010 with pure platforming in 2.5D with Donkey Kong Country Returns. In 2013, it was 3DS owners who were able to marvel at this adventure. You know what ? In 2025, it is those who have a Switch at home or in their backpack who will be able to (re)immerse themselves in this excellent title. Beautiful, sometimes very difficult, funny, playable alone or in pairs, Donkey Kong Country Returns was described as “a little happiness that you have no right to miss” when we tested it.

Another HD remaster, but it's one of a great game

Donkey Kong Country Returns is coming to Nintendo Switch in an HD version. The story ? The terrible Taki Tak tribe has hypnotized the local wildlife and stolen Donkey Kong's banana stock. It doesn't take much for the famous gorilla and his sidekick Diddy Kong to crush their opponents by rolling over them. An old-fashioned platform game, the levels are full of traps and require a lot of reflexes as well as skill to progress. On this subject, plan to restart the levels many times (or portions of levels depending on the checkpoints) since progression is sometimes achieved through failure. Don't panic though, lives are very easy to gain.

This Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is not just an HD version of the original episode released on Wii since it also includes the bonuses from the 3DS version. We thus find the 80 levels of the software in this version “definitive” thought for our HD TVs, with the famous cart races, the rocket barrel sequences, and of course the rides on the backs of various and varied animals. If you ever wonder, yes, this Switch version will obviously allow you to have local co-op fun, like back then. Donkey Kong Country Returns HD will arrive on January 16, 2025 on Nintendo Switch.
