Cinema releases and new series seasons without end

With all the series hype of the last few weeks, which still have new episodes ready for us every week, it was clear at some point that a somewhat tamer streaming week would come around the corner. And unfortunately, it is now here: Apart from a few smaller film and series recommendations such as “Eileen” with Anne Hathaway on WOW, the Netflix romcom “A Family Affair” with Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron or Season 1 of the new Apple animated series “WondLa” The current streaming week is still dominated by “House of the Dragon”, “The Boys” and “Star Wars: The Acolyte”. The latter, the troubled child, actually managed to improve with episode 5: Thanks to a brutally short but extremely entertaining lightsaber fight episode and a few crisp twists, some fans are suddenly beginning to have hope again. Of course, that doesn't distract from the miserable first four episodes – but it's still worth mentioning positively.

Otherwise, this week is more of a preview of what we can expect in the coming weeks and months in streaming plus cinema: Paramount+ finally announced Season 2 of “Tulsa King” The new season of the brilliant crime saga with Sylvester Stallone as a loose-mouthed, clenched-fisted mobster will be released on September 16th on Paramount+.

Meanwhile, Eddie Murphy has caused a sensation in two fan camps. As part of the promo for “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F”, which is being released on Netflix next week, Murphy explained that a fifth Foley case is already being actively planned – also at Netflix, which now has the exclusive rights to the franchise. Perhaps even more surprising: “Shrek 5” also seems to be a possibility! As Eddie Murphy confirmed, the ogre and his donkey buddy expected 2025 return to the cinemas!

And while summer is just getting started, The Rock prefers to head out for the first mulled wine of the season: With the release of the first trailer for “Red One”, it is now clear that the star-studded action comedy will not be released on Prime Video in Germany, but will debut in cinemas via Warner. A cinema release is timely scheduled for NovemberWhat it's about: When Muscle Santa (JK Simmons) is kidnapped, his elf bodyguard (Dwayne Johnson) must enlist the help of a naughty bounty hunter (Chris Evans) to save his boss and Christmas – complete with Krampus, Snowman Warriors, and Wonder Woman references.

But the biggest news highlight of the week comes from Universal: With the first Trailer for “Nosferatu” Director Robert Eggers makes it clear once again that the future of modern horror films belongs to him. The star-studded remake of the eternal silent film classic is a truly mammoth project, but the first images are definitely entertaining!
