Call of Duty: Warzone: Verdansk’s comeback is delayed!

The original Warzone map Verdansk is supposed to return to the Battle Royale shooter – but we now have to wait longer for the comeback than previously thought.

Call of Duty: Warzone originally launched with the Verdansk map, which has since been replaced. Fans of the Battle Royale spin-off have been waiting for a comeback of this classic map ever since – and one was actually supposed to happen at the end of this year. However, according to new rumors, that will not happen.

Initially, @BobNetworkUK on X (formerly Twitter) reports that the return of Verdansk will be postponed until 2025. In the meantime, the usually well-informed men from Insider Gaming can verify this information using our own sources. Even if there is no official announcement yet, the probability is high that the Verdansk comeback will actually not be available until the new year 2025 in Call of Duty: Warzone.

Previously, Insider Gaming in December 2023 also reported on the plans for Verdansk to return as the main location in Warzone on the occasion of the release of the main part Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. At the time, it was assumed that the change of the main map would take place in December 2024, following the traditional rhythm. This assumption now seems to be outdated.

According to the online magazine's sources, a Verdansk comeback was never planned originally. The immense success of Fortnite OG, which also brought back the original island and had the biggest day in the successful history of Fortnite with 44.7 million players, led to a rethink. This caused Activision to change its plans, so that the new main map called “Avalon” was postponed from 2024 to 2025. This was supposed to appear in the context of Call of Duty 2025 with the code name “Saturn” and is almost complete. What the schedule will look like after the alleged Verdansk postponement remains to be seen, especially since there is no official statement from Activision yet.
