Battle.net should not be required to play Black Ops 6 via PC Game Pass | Xbox

Last October, Microsoft finalized the acquisition of Activision Blizzard King after long months of trying to convince various organizations of the benefits of this acquisition, such as the European Commission, the FTC and the CMA. Since then, only one game from the publisher has joined Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, namely Diablo IV. Subscribers to the service on PC will have quickly noticed that it is mandatory to use Battle.net to benefit from it, but this may well not be the case for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Battle.net should not be required to play Black Ops 6 via PC Game Pass

By going to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 page of the Xbox application, we can see that the game is compatible with Xbox achievements and that the same version of the Call of Duty hub is playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Indeed, the 2,000 G of the Call of Duty hub are currently accounted for and they should rise to 3,000 when the new opus is added to Modern Warfare II and Modern Warfare III.

There is reason to be surprised, to the extent that Diablo IV is not compatible with Xbox achievements, since it is necessary to go through the Battle.net application to benefit from them via the PC Game Pass subscription.

Note also that downloading the small Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 pre-installation cache file does not force you to install Battle.net, unlike Diablo IV earlier in the year.

Everything therefore suggests that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be playable directly through the Xbox application, without going through Battle.net, and that it will therefore be possible to unlock achievements!

All Activision Blizzard games ported to the Microsoft Store PC?

It seems that Xbox does not want to force its PC players to go through Battle.net. Indeed, in recent weeks, 3 Activision games have made their way to the Xbox app, although they are not yet available via PC Game Pass.

Games that have been ported to the Microsoft Store PC

Microsoft is certainly preparing the ground before integrating its games into its service. With this and the few clues that lead us to believe that it will not be necessary to go through Battle.net to launch Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, we can imagine that Diablo IV is an isolated case.

To the extent that its arrival in Game Pass seems to have been rushed to calm the enthusiasm at the beginning of the year which led to the famous Business Update, we can say that Xbox is taking so long to integrate the games into its service to give Activision Blizzard teams time to port the various productions to the Microsoft Store PC.

As always, you will have to be patient to get the heart for it. We can hope that Activision Blizzard games will integrate Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass before the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on October 25.
