The developers also attach great importance to a creative use of the various PS5 features. The DualSense controller and its functions play a crucial role here. As an example, Team Asobi mentioned a level in which you feel a wall in search of a secret passage. Thanks to the haptic feedback, you can feel every bump in your hands.

Another charming detail: Astro enters each level by zooming in on a DualSense controller, a scene that you can control with the motion sensors of your PS5 controller.

PlayStation VR2 is left out

While the DualSense controller plays a crucial role in the creative concepts of “Astro Bot,” there is no support for the PlayStation VR2 virtual reality headset.

As Creative Director Nicolas Doucet confirmed in an interview, support for the headset was not considered from the start.

A decision that Doucet as follows: “When we talk about VR and non-VR, a game like Astro, if you want to make a VR version, it has to be fully developed for that medium. And if it's not a VR version, it has to be fully developed for the other medium.”

“Astro Bot” will be released on September 6, 2024 for the PS5.
