The Japanese publisher Sega has uploaded an interview about the new edition of “Crazy Taxi”. Here the producer made it clear: It is an ambitious project.

At the Game Awards 2023, Sega announced the return of several iconic brands. One of them is “Crazy Taxi”, which was born in 1999. Here you race as a crazy taxi driver across the West Coast city, which is based on San Francisco.

A statement by the responsible producer Kenji Kanno makes it clear how ambitious the new edition is. According to him, it is a large-scale open-world MMO racing game based on AAA. The Unreal Engine 5 is being used in development.

This means that many players can cruise around at the same time. The style of the original will also be retained despite all the new mechanisms.

New game mode hinted at

Furthermore, an image in the video shows a police car – a hint at new game modes. So you will probably not only be able to get behind the wheel of a taxi.

According to leaker Midori, you can expect a live service title with long-term support. Industry giants “Fortnite” and “GTA Online” serve as sources of inspiration here. A Battle Royale mode with 100 players is also said to be included.
