Microsoft is launching a mega-cooperation with online giant Amazon. The game library of the Game Pass subscription will soon be available on selected Fire TV Sticks – who needs an Xbox console anymore?
Xbox and Amazon: Game Pass comes to the Fire TV Stick
As Xbox and Amazon have announced in blog posts, the Game Pass is coming to the Amazon Fire TV. The cooperation will make it possible for customers in 25 countries to play the games of the subscription on their home TV or monitor via stream – without the need for a console. All you will need is a Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2023) or a Fire TV Stick 4K (2023) as well as a Bluetooth-enabled controller and, of course, a Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Then you can download the cloud gaming app, log in with your Microsoft data and get started. The service offers several hundred games for streaming, including well-known highlights such as Fallout 4, Starfield and Forza Horizon 5. A stable and fast internet connection is of course also a must for everything to run smoothly.
Xbox Game Pass eliminates the console
The Xbox Game Pass app is already available on several devices – owners of a new Samsung TV (2020 or later) can already access and use the Xbox Cloud Gaming Beta app via the Samsung Gaming Hub. With the new Fire TV app, however, theoretically really any TV with an HDMI port start the app.
Microsoft is continuing its much-heralded path of making its games as widely and easily available as possible. This should also be reflected in the sales figures of Xbox consoles – the company is already lagging behind the competition from Sony and Nintendo, and with the spread of the cloud gaming app, there are fewer and fewer reasons for many gamers to get an Xbox. However, the Game Pass Ultimate subscription should at least become interesting for even more gamers.
