Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Hitman, Warcraft and many more – there are already numerous video game adaptations and sometimes they are better and sometimes worse received. Now a new film adaptation is on the way, although it is not an adaptation, but a whole new story in this gaming universe should act.

The video game series in question is now ten years old. The first part was released in 2014 and the sequel two years later. After that, there was a bit of peace and quiet and The third part followed in 2020.

Will the film save the franchise?
But we now ask ourselves whether the Watch Dogs film could save the franchise. Watch Dogs from 2014 received a relatively good critics' rating on Metacritic (80 out of 100). However, players were less enthusiastic with 6.8 out of 10. On Steam, the first part has nonapp 40,000 reviewswhich are nevertheless “mostly positive”.
Watch Dogs 2 was released in 2016 and had a critics rating of 82 out of 100, which is slightly better than the first part. Users were also more satisfied and rated the game 7.7 out of 10. The Steam ratings also improved. These for the second part are almost 70,000 pieces and are “very positive”.
But the third and apparently final part of the series was the end of the story. After an improvement from part 1 to part 2, expectations were certainly very high, which the game evidently could not fulfill. Critics rated Watch Dogs: Legion only 76 out of 100 and users gave it a 6.2 out of 10 rating on Metacritic. On Steam, there was still around 7,500 reviewsprimarily only “balanced”.
