Anyone who has ever built a large Lego set knows how much work model building can be. I think back with joy and horror to the two wonderful, terrible weeks I spent crawling around on the floor in my living room assembling my UCS Millennium Falcon with seven and a half thousand parts.

It would be a shame if someone were to simply destroy this magnificent set. The medieval equivalent of this has now happened in House of the Dragon. In the new episode of the Game of Thrones spin-off, an extremely detailed model kit is broken, and even a king is now mourning it. We explain what happened.

Warning spoilers: This article covers specific plot details from House of the Dragon Season 2, Episode 2. If you haven't seen the episode yet, you shouldn't read any further!

A royal tantrum

At the beginning of episode 2, King's Landing is in turmoilThe underage son of King Aegon Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney) has been murdered. Since their families are enemies, the king suspects his hated half-sister, the rightful heir to the throne Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy), is behind the insidious attack.

In a fit of rage, Aegon vents his anger and destroys a precious model of the ancient city of Valyria – the home of the Targaryen clan. According to the books by GoT author George RR Martin, the real city fell victim to a volcanic eruption hundreds of years before the events of the series.

The King's old Legos

Aegon's father Viserys had spent years reconstructing the model using literary sources. On Instagram, Viserys' actor Paddy Considine reacted to the destruction after the new episode was broadcast. his model.

Addressing Aegon actor Tom Glynn-Carney, Considine wrote: Thanks, Tom! It took me damn years to build this thing. Considine posted a meme showing Viserys, who had already died in the series, and humorously referring to the destruction of his Lego set. We have included the entire post below:

But there might be more to Aegon’s actions than just a simple fit of anger. The series creators at HBO have already proven several times that they are only too happy to incorporate so-called foreshadowing into their Westeros series.

Could the destruction of Valyria possibly be a subtle hint of the impending destruction of the entire Targaryen house? We will inevitably find out sooner or later.
