There are many unanswered questions surrounding the Star Wars series Ahsoka with regard to the now confirmed season 2: How do Ahsoka and Sabine get down from the planet Peridea? What awaits the returning Ezra Bridger? And what happens to the former Jedi Baylan Skoll?

The latter question has been all the more tricky so far because Skoll's actor, British actor Ray Stevenson, died suddenly in May 2023. Since then, it has been unclear what will happen to his character in the series. Now the answer to this question should have been found.

The only logical decision?

The role of Baylan Skoll is apparently being recast. However, this information has not yet been officially confirmed. It comes from insider Daniel Richtman, also known as DanielRPKwho is considered to be well informed about Star Wars and Marvel. Even renowned sites such as the film portal Screentime have now picked up on the statement.

There is still silence from Disney and Lucasfilm. The last official statement on the death of Ray Stevenson and the future of his character Baylan Skoll is already several months old, dated November 2023 to be precise. At the time, Lucasfilm CCO Dave Filoni said:

Obviously there is a story that [um Baylan Skoll] can be told further. At the moment we are at a point where we have to wait and see. But I am very happy that Ray [Stevenson] talked about and how great he was.

The fact is: Without Baylan Skoll, a continuation of the Ahsoka series would be difficult to imagine. Aside from Ahsoka herself, the dark yet eloquent man was the linchpin of the show. What is his purpose on the planet Peridea? What made him turn his back on the Jedi?

It's probably not possible to write him out of season 2 without damaging the series on a content level. Therefore, recasting his role would probably be the only logical decision.

A difficult choice that Marvel also faced a few years ago. In 2020, after the death of Chadwick Boseman, the superhero studio had to decide whether to recast Black Panther or find a solution. Marvel took the opposite path to Lucasfilm and rewrote the story for Wakanda Forever instead of recasting.

When will there be new information about Ahsoka Season 2?

Of course, there is no official information about which actors would be considered for the role of Baylan Skoll. In fan circles, however, some names are repeatedly mentioned as preferred candidates: Liev Schreiber (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Graham McTavish (The Witcher), Liam Cunningham (3 Body Problem) and Vincent Regan (One Piece).

Season 2 of Ahsoka is still in its early stages, so we have very little information at the moment. However, the chances of Anakin Skywalker returning are apparently very good.

Filming has not started yet. A release before 2026 therefore seems unrealistic. We will of course keep you updated if we find out anything!

What will happen to Star Wars beyond Ahsoka? If this question is bothering you, we can give you the answer. Our holocron didn't let us down and spit out a whole series of articles that we have linked to in the box above. In them you will find out, among other things, which mistake was very well hidden in Episode 3 for 20 years.
