The pen & paper role-playing game Mörk Borg has had quite a successful career. It was only released in 2020, but since then fans of the tabletop role-playing game have repeatedly mentioned it as an insider tip. Including us! After all, Mörk Borg landed on our list of the best pen & paper for beginners.

Now this popular little D&D alternative is about to get a new version that seems so absurd that we just have to talk about it: Smörk Borg will be a tough, dark pen&paper role-playing game with yellow Smurfs.

What for smork?

Even though Smörk Borg was obviously inspired by the Smurfs, there is no real licensing cooperation behind it. Especially since the Smörks are more of a nasty little goblins in a brutal world than funny blue fellows.

In Smörk Borg you are tiny, but you face huge opponents. As is usual for the rules system behind it, the challenge is merciless. The probability that you will die is unspeakably highThe genius of Mörk Borg – or Smörk Borg – is that it is still absurdly fun.

The rulebook for Smörk Borg will be 100 to 150 pages long, depending on which stretch goals are achieved.

Character creation is quick and the game combines its dark premise with absurd humor. Just the thought of bloodthirsty little Smurfswho fight with monsters and get drunk or even stoned in the process, is enough to make you smile.

We certainly can't wait to finally start smörk and to properly smörk the smörks with our smörk. It's going to be a smörk!

How far is the project?

The crowdfunding campaign for Smörk Borg is currently running on Kickstarter. The team has already been able to finance the role-playing game here, but only 2,132 euros were requested. The campaign currently stands at 10,164 eurosThis means that many of the stretch goals that have been set so far have already been unlocked.

Crowdfunding ends on July 11, 2024Then all you have to do is wait until the product can be completed and shipped. The team behind it has not yet announced how long this will take.

Incidentally, Smörk Borg does not come from the same people who invented Mörk Borg. The team only uses the open licenseThere are now a number of these spin-offs. For example, one of the Duck Tales called Dukk Börg.
